When I was young, I envisioned the future to be filled with flying cars, futuristic technology, and holograms. However, reality is quite different. Self-driving cars explode, smart home technology invades our privacy, and holograms are used to bring back dead musicians at music festivals. Despite the lack of flying cars, the future is still an intriguing place.
This same sentiment applies to music. I always imagined futuristic songs to be electronic masterpieces, but the reality is that music is still influenced by the past. However, what we do have now is an exciting blend of genres and styles that create a unique musical landscape, much like the geological layering that occurs over time.
This messy, yet fascinating process results in a mix of amazing and puzzling music. But, in the chaotic future we live in, this type of music feels more representative of the times. It’s a reflection of the uncertainty and unpredictability of the world we inhabit.
