Is San Diego County losing funds due to incompetence?
Former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer recently claimed that Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer’s incompetence has led to the loss of $10 million in funding designated for homelessness in the county. Faulconer’s assertions were based on Lawson-Remer’s decision to vote against a planned Spring Valley tiny home project for homeless residents.
Lawson-Remer defended her stance, stating that scrapping the project was a mistake and that the county now faces the consequences of losing the state funding. The state subsequently reallocated the $10 million to San Jose, citing the county’s failure to meet project deadlines.
In response to Faulconer’s claims, Lawson-Remer’s spokesperson, Gustavo Portela, pointed out that the supervisor faced opposition from fellow board members, including those from her own party, in maintaining the Spring Valley project. Portela emphasized the importance of bipartisan collaboration to address the homeless crisis.
